OFFICERS found two people metal detecting on private land in possession of class A drugs.
Police were called to suspicious activity just outside Wimborne on Thursday evening.
A spokesperson for North Dorset Police said: “Last night PC1614 and PC2952 from white team responded to a report of two people acting suspiciously on National Trust land near Wimborne.
“They found two people metal detecting on private land without permission, in fields already sown with crop and were found to be in possession of class A drugs.
“Heritage Crime is taken seriously in Dorset. You cannot metal detect on any scheduled monument or on private land without the permission of the land owner.
“Any finds remain the property of the landowner and significant finds of ‘treasure’ must be reported to HM Coroner.”
