DORCHESTER ballet and dance school may re-locate to a new home at the town’s Sandringham Sports Centre.

Town councillors have backed the idea of allowing the school to build in a corner of its car park alongside the sports centre, which is home to the town’s bowls club.

They were told that if the application wins planning consent from Dorset Council is may result in moving the existing boules terrain to another part of the site.

The school has submitted an application for a new single story dance school to Dorset Council although the details have not been validated yet and is not open, at this stage, to public comment on the proposals.

Cllr Andy Canning told Monday evening’s town council management committee that he would welcome the move but asked that the school, in line with the council’s policies on climate change, considers adding solar panels to the roof of its proposed building.
