PARENTS are being reminded of lockdown rules after police discovered a group of teenagers gathered at Weymouth Swimming Pool.

Weymouth and Portland Police officers on patrol this evening found a group of around ten youths gathered outside the building at Knightsdale Road near The Marsh playing fields.

The group ran away from officers as they approached.

CCTV cameras are now in place at the site, police say, and follow up enquiries will be made with those present at the incident.

A spokesman for the force said: "Neighbourhood Policing Officers have been completing high visibility patrols around Weymouth Swimming Pool on Knightsdale Road.

"On arrival, a large group of approximately ten youths were seen sat underneath the swimming pool entrance. The group ran away from officers whilst approaching the pool.

"Please can we remind parents of young people that congregating in large groups not only breaches the national lockdown restrictions but also causes alarm and distress to members of the public in the area.

"You are allowed to meet one other person for exercise only. There is now a CCTV camera that covers this area and we will be making follow up enquiries with the youths who were involved in this incident this evening."
