A POLICE chase took place in Weymouth this afternoon following a reported burglary at a property on Chickerell Road.
The suspects fled the scene before officers arrived - however the alleged 'getaway' vehicle was tracked down with the help of CCTV operators in the town centre.
A spokesman for Weymouth & Portland Police said: "Officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team and Red Patrol Team this afternoon attended a report of a burglary on Chickerell Road.
"The offender left in a vehicle prior to officers arriving. A short time later PCSOs on foot patrol on Weymouth Esplanade saw the vehicle involved being driven along the seafront.
"With the help of the town centre CCTV operators who tracked the progress of the vehicle, it was stopped by officers at the rear of the Pavilion.
"The driver of the vehicle is currently assisting officers with their enquiries and items believed to have been stolen have been recovered."
