OUTBREAKS of rain will bring heavy downpours across Bournemouth according to the Met Office as Storm Christoph approaches.

The national weather service has issued a yellow weather for rain, with the whole of England expected to be impacted by Wednesday, January 20.

In Bournemouth, outbreaks of rain are expected tonight before further rain moves in from the west tomorrow, Tuesday, January 19.

Persistent and heavy rain is expected for Wednesday, January 20.

Significant accumulations of rain could lead to flooding in some areas.

The yellow warning for rain has also been issued for Bournemouth for Thursday, January 21.

Chief Meteorologist from the Met Office, Dan Suri said:"Some locations could see over 100mm of rain falling through the course just a couple of days with up to 200mm possible over higher ground.

"Temperatures will gradually fall across the UK through the end of the week and into the weekend bringing a return to widespread overnight frosts."

Chief Meteorologist from the Met Office, Neil Armstrong said: "A wide area of rainfall will move across central parts of the UK on Monday evening and bring heavy rain for the following 36-48 hours. 

"Heavy rain will impact the whole of England and Wales by Wednesday with Yellow warnings for rain in force."
