THREE fire engines have been sent to extinguish a blaze in a derelict farm building.

At 3.40am this morning, Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) were called to reports of a building on fire off Drakes Lane in Cheselbourne.

Fire engines from Bere Regis, Dorchester and Blandford were sent to the scene, as well as an off-road vehicle from Wareham and a water carrier from Poole.

A spokesman for DWFRS said: "On arrival crews found a derelict agricultural building well alight.

"They used two main lines, two hose reel jets and four breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire.

"The electricity board also attended to make the incident safe.

"One pump from Sturminster Newton returned to the incident at 1100 hours to carry out a reinspection.

"They used a thermal imaging camera to inspect the area, no further hotspots were found."
