NINE further coronavirus deaths have been recorded at University Hospitals Dorset in the last 24 hours.

The latest figures from NHS England mean a total of 548 people have died with Covid-19 in Dorset hospitals since the start of the pandemic.

There have been 265 deaths in University Hospitals Dorset, 63 in Dorset County Hospital and 45 within the Dorset Healthcare Universities Trust.

Before the merger of the Royal Bournemouth and Poole Hospitals into University Hospitals Dorset, they recorded 68 and 107 deaths respectively.

A further 623 deaths have been recorded in hospitals in England in the last 24 hours, briging the total of 66,437.

Patients were aged between 32 and 101 years old. All except 34 (aged 37 to 97 years old) had known underlying health conditions.

A total of 47 deaths were recorded in the South West region with the highest number - 143 - in the Midlands.
