A MUSIC video has been produced by a collaboration of Dorset residents, reminding people to 'Wear Your Mask'.

The song was written by Juliet Hyslop, from Weymouth, and is a play on 'Raise your Glass' by Pink.

Miss Hyslop has been struggling with her mental health since the beginning of the pandemic in March.

Throughout the current lockdown she has found herself increasingly more concerned about the amount of people still not following the lockdown rules and decided to pen a musical number to get her point across. Most importantly, highlighting the importance of wearing a mask in public to protect the NHS and each other during the pandemic.

Once she was happy with the lyrics, Miss Hyslop went about finding a team of people to perform the song and to produce the video.

She was joined by Weymouth-based musician Frazer Mitchell and 17-year-old singer, Lizzie Pawsey, also from Weymouth. Her daughter's boyfriend, Brandon Ferson, who lives in Carlisle and works in the music and film industry and produced a video to accompany the song.

Miss Hyslop said: "I was delighted with the outcome, everything came together really well.

"It shows everything I wanted to show, the impact of not wearing masks and the effect it has on the NHS.

"Its important to get this message out there, the bottom line is that masks save lives."

The video is accompanied by a JustGiving page to raise money for Family Action, an organisation which helps families who are struggling with food insecurity and other financial pressures as a result of the pandemic.

Over the summer, Miss Hyslop ran 250 miles to raise money for mental health charity, MIND, after significant struggles with her mental health during the first lockdown.

The song also aims to spread the message that it is important to look after your mental wellbeing and that help is there for those who need it.

Miss Hyslop added: "It's so important to bring up the subject of mental health and how prevalent it is for everybody currently. You would have to be made of stone not to be affected mentally by everything going on.

"The writing was an escapism from my anxiety and panic about the virus.

"Working on the song, alongside the support of friends and family, has really helped me through a very dark time. It's so important that people reach out if you are struggling because there are people who will listen."
