A DRIVER avoided a driving ban after he was caught speeding at more than 100mph on a busy Dorset route.

Malcolm Ian Adams, aged 76, was behind the wheel of a Mazda on the A35 in Tolpuddle near Dorchester on Friday, June 5, 2020.

Weymouth Magistrates’ Court heard how Adams was caught by a speed camera travelling at 106mph. The speed limit on the road is 70mph.

Adams, of Plaisters Lane, Sutton Poyntz, pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle over the 70mph speed limit.

The case was adjourned from Friday, November 20, 2020 to allow Magistrates to hear of any mitigating circumstances which could prevent Adams from being disqualified from driving.

Adams was not banned from driving but Chair of Magistrates, Mrs Saunders, endorsed his driving licence with six points.

Adams was also ordered to pay a £294 fine, costs of £110 and a £34 victim surcharge.
