The rider of the motorcycle – a 28-year-old man from Weymouth – sustained very serious injuries and was taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment.
William Sewell, aged 46, appeared at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court charged with driving a vehicle without due care and attention on the A35.
Mr Sewell, of Burbidge Close, Lytchett Matravers, spoke to confirm his name, address and date of birth.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge and will stand trial at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, May 6.
Weymouth Magistrates Court heard how the one-day trial will hear evidence from Mr Sewell, the injured motorcyclist and a police officer.
