AN urgent search has been launched for a missing man who was reported to be 'very upset'.

Rodney Gay, aged 53 and of Bridport, was reported missing at 2.16pm on Saturday, February 27 after he had last been heard from earlier in the day at 7am.

Dorset Police say that during the last contact with his family, he indicated that he was at West Bay and was 'very upset'.

Rodney is described as white, five feet 10 inches tall and of medium build. He has short hair, a beard and a moustache that is going grey. He is wearing dark blue jeans, white trainers and a light beige coloured long jacket with pockets in the front and a zip.

Officers searching for Mr Gay would like the public’s help in trying to find him after searching the West Bay area for him.

Chief Inspector Derek McKerl, of Dorset Police, said: “We are becoming very concerned for Rodney’s welfare as it is very unusual for him not to be in contact with his family for this length of time.

“We have been searching the area including West Bay, but have so far been unable to locate Rodney.

“I am hoping that somebody may have seen him since this morning, which might help to direct our searches.

“Rodney, if you see this appeal, please get in touch with us or your family. We just want to ensure you are safe and well.”

Anyone with information or knowledge as to Rodney’s whereabouts is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk, via email 101@dorset.pnn.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting incident number 27:333.
