VIDEO shows how flames overwhelmed a digger in a field, which sparked a call-out from firefighters.

Firefighters from Dorchester, Wareham and Poole were called to a vehicle fire in a field in Wool at 3.13pm on Tuesday, March 2.

Upon arrival, the digger was on fire and fire crews set to work to extinguish the blaze.

Video taken at the scene by firefighters show the digger’s cockpit was engulfed in flames and a part of the land was also ablaze.

A spokeswoman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said no cause of the fire has been confirmed.

She said: “Crews from Dorchester, Wareham and Poole were mobilised to reports of a large vehicle fire in Wool at 3.13pm on Tuesday, March 2.

“On arrival, crews found one digger fully on fire and two breathing apparatus wearers used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.

“The fire had also started to spread to an area of ground around the vehicle and an additional main line hose was used to put this out.

“The stop message came in at 4.50pm and left the scene just before 6pm.”
