A number of roadworks will be taking place across Dorset as workers continue to keep the county’s roads in a good condition.

Roadworks are continuing to be carried out despite the ongoing lockdown restrictions as maintenance crews improve services in the area or fix roads.

Here are roadworks you need to be aware of starting Monday, March 8.

Key route into Dorset town to shut for more than a week

A busy route into Gillingham will be shut for more than a week for roadworks.

B3092 New Road, between junctions for B3081 Newbury and Cole Street Lane, will be closed in both directions between Monday, March 8 and Wednesday, March 17.

A public notice states the roadworks are for drainage maintenance and a road closure is necessary for the works to be safely carried out.

It reads: “This Temporary Traffic Management Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out carriageway maintenance and resurfacing works.

“A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.”

New Road will also be closed for resurfacing between 7pm and 6am on Thursday, March 18 and Friday, March 19.

Road to partially close for roadworks

The southbound side of Ringwood Road in Ferndown will be closed overnight for multiple nights for resurfacing.

The road will be closed between 7pm to 6am on Friday, March 5 to Saturday, March 13.

Traffic lights on key route out of Weymouth

Dorset Echo:

Temporary traffic lights will be in place on B3157 Chickerell Road in Chickerell to allow SGN to carry out gas works in the area.

This will be in place between Monday, March 8 and Friday, March 12. It is reported that this will cause delays in the area.

Key route in Beaminster remains shut

Dorset Echo:

A 130-metre section of North Street in Beaminster, between its junction with Woodswater Lane and its junction with Gerrards Green, is currently closed to enable Wessex Water safe access to lay a new water main.

The road is closed in both directions. It came into force on Monday, March 1 and lasts until Friday, April 2.

A diversion route will be signposted and will take drivers approximately 13 minutes to follow the 7-mile route.

Lane closure and temporary traffic lights on the A35

Dorset Echo:

Jurassic Fibre is carrying out works in the area and as a result, requires temporary traffic lights and a lane closure on the A35 in West Dorset and close to the Devon border.

These traffic lights will be in place between A35 in Monkton Wyld for one night on Tuesday, March 9 between 7pm until 7am.

A lane closure will be in place between junction for B3165 East of Raymonds Hill to the junction for A3052 for two night on Wednesday, March 10 and Thursday, March 11 between 7pm until 7am.

Speed limit reduced on A37 due to litter picking

Dorset Echo:

A long stretch of the A37 will be subject to a 30mph speed limit as Dorset Council workers carry out litter picking along the busy route.

The temporary 30mph speed limit will be in force on the A37 between Weirs roundabout and Somerset boundary between 9.30am and 3pm on Wednesday, March 10 until Friday, March 12.

A traffic notice states that the speed limit will remain in force for three days whilst Dorset Waste Partnership carry out convoy litter picking.

Traffic lights on key route through Dorchester

Temporary traffic lights will be in place on High West Street to allow SGN to carry out gas works in the area.

This will be in place on Monday, March 8. It is reported that this will cause delays in the area.
