IN YOUR report with regards to Weymouth’s temporary outdoor seating area, Councillor O’Leary refers to ‘the disaster of last year’s scheme’.
I wasn’t aware of this. Hopefully the compromise to which he enthusiastically subscribes to will be acceptable to all who derive their livelihoods from trading in this vital area of the resort.
Likewise, I hope what is planned gets somewhere close to the undisputed popularity that brought a huge influx of visitors to this area in what turned out to be a very successful shorter spring and summer season.
While there were protests when the Government’s initiative was mooted, I and so many others consider last year’s compromise worked better than those who feared bad times.
