Hi readers, it’s Emily and William here again, writing more about moving out of the family home, following on from last week.

What’s good for me Emily, about moving into this new home, is that all our parents live very close by so if we need anything they are just around the corner.

There will also always be someone there, either a friend or a support worker. I like that I will still be able to have time on my own, but it won’t be for too many hours of the day.

It will be nice to do things together too, like shopping and cooking. My cooking is good, but I can cook too fast and too much. Mum keeps saying, “Stop boiling everything at 90 miles an hour!”.

While writing this, I’ve been asking William questions about the best things about living on his own. I, William, like not having to share the TV! Although I, Emily will have a TV which I can watch in my room, I am looking forward to watching TV with the others in the sitting room.

Why did you choose to live in Dorchester William? Because it was nearer to my parents and my flat is quite near shops, which I like.

I, William, asked Emily if they have anyone to look after the garden, as I’m a keen gardener. I’d be interested in helping but would like to look at it first to see what state it’s in. I, Emily, would like to get William’s advice. If he did end up doing it, maybe we could cook for him in exchange! I, William, don’t have a garden but we do have a communal garden around the back of the flats. It’s quite big and nice.

Read again next week for our final thoughts about living independently!
