A MAN touched himself on the train back from Weymouth, a court heard.

Robert Baker, 38, got on the 15.08 service from Weymouth towards Westbury, in Wiltshire, on August 22, 2019. There were children as young as two on the carriage.

Prosecutor James Burnham told Swindon Magistrates’ Court that Baker sat down opposite a woman. His shirt was undone and his naked chest visible.

“He was blowing kisses and he was seen to be apparently masturbating inside his trousers as it were,” the prosecutor said. He was also said to have been using his own spittle on himself.

Mr Burnham concluded: “Pretty disgusting.”

Police arrived and spoke to Baker, who denied performing a sex act on himself. He said: “It’s not like I got my d*** out.”

District Judge Joanna Dickens said: “In a carriage it’s quite frightening, isn’t it, because people can’t get away from it and children seeing. It must have been pretty nasty.”

Baker, of Stafford Street, Swindon, pleaded guilty to outraging public decency. He had earlier admitted disorderly behaviour.

The judge bailed him and ordered a pre-sentence report. He will be sentenced on May 10.
