The thatched cottage, based in Quarr Hill near Wareham, has been put up for auction by Auctioneers Symonds and Sampson.

Symonds and Sampson state the 'quirky' Grade II Listed property is believed to date back to the 18th Century and 'provides flexible, character accommodation with an abundance of period features throughout.'

The current owners have carried out 'considerable works to the property', including some replacement of roof timbers and restored several fireplaces.

The cottage, which has a guide price of £295,000, still requires further work, but this can be completed by a buyer to finish the property to their own taste.

The ground floor contains two reception rooms, both with inglenook fireplaces. Several steps down lead to the proposed kitchen/breakfast room with another fireplace, flagstone floor tiles, and a door leading to a utility room.

Steps up lead to a bedroom/third reception room. There is a sunroom and a bathroom, both at the rear of the property while the first floor comprises two double bedrooms and a former WC.

There is off-road parking for three vehicles and a timber summer house in the rear garden.
