FLORAL tributes have been laid as a police investigation into the deaths of a man and woman continues.

As previously reported, Dorset Police was called at 5.40pm on Thursday, April 1 by the ambulance service to a report that a woman had been found injured at an address in Ranelagh Road, Weymouth.

The woman – aged in her 50s and from the local area – was pronounced dead at the scene. Her death is being treated as suspicious and an investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding her death.

A post-mortem examination has indicated that the cause of death was multiple stab wounds and neck compression.

Police also visited an address on Grove Road, Portland, at around 6.40pm on Thursday where a body of a man aged in his 50s was found.

His death is not being treated as suspicious and his family has been informed. A police spokesman added the man and woman were known to each other.

It has emerged that Dorset Police had contact with one of the individuals involved on the day before the deaths. The matter has therefore been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

A cordon was in place at Heron Court, at the bottom of Ranelagh Road, to allow for police investigations but this has since been lifted.

Two police vehicles were parked outside the Grove Road property on Saturday, with a police cordon on green space near the property.

Flowers were laid at the scene on Portland on Saturday.

Dorset Police is still investigating the circumstances of their deaths and are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Inspector Wayne Seymour, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “We are continuing to investigate the circumstances of both deaths, which are being treated as linked.
