Coastguards and medics were scrambled to two medical emergencies on the Purbeck coast in a short space of time.

The first call at 1.15pm on Saturday saw rescuers respond to a walker in a remote location who had a tight chest feeling and related breathing difficulties.

A spokesman for Kimmeridge Coastguard said: "With back up from the rest of our team and our colleagues at St Alban's Coastguard Rescue Team we located the casualty from a provided map reference between Chapman's Pool and Kimmeridge.

"After guiding the ambulance and paramedic car to the casualty and transferring him into their care the teams escorted the ambulance crew back across the fields onto the road."

The spokesman said no sooner had the team returned back onto the road they were called again to assist Lulworth Coastguard Rescue Team to the west at Durdle Door after calls had been received of a person on the beach with a suspected dislocated knee.

"As our Kimmeridge team were still together and had just been released from the previous incident, they were requested to proceed to make up numbers allowing for another awkward stretcher carry along the beach and up the steps, assisting the Lulworth team, Lulworth First Responders and South Western Ambulance.

"With the casualty in the care of ambulance crews all assets were stood down and returned to station.

"All in all a busy day!"
