A ROAD in Shaftesbury has been reopened after it was shut by police due to a fire.
Earlier today multiple fire crews attended the scene at Longmead Industrial Estate.
A spokesman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said: "We were called to a fire in a unit on Longmead Industrial Estate at 6.52am this morning. We had crews in attendance from Shaftesbury, Gillingham, Sturminster Newton, Mere and Blandford, together with a support unit from Hamworthy and an aerial ladder platform from Yeovil.
"The fire was contained within the main room of the affected building, and there were no reports of any injuries.
"The stop came at 10.10am, and we had left the scene by 1pm.
"The fire started accidentally in a machine, it was a complex operation to ensure the rest of the site was safe as the building contained chemicals and a lot of flammable material. The fire was contained to the one room, but there was smoke damage throughout the premises."
Dorset Police were called at 7.17am by the fire service to assist with road closures to ensure the safety of members of the public.
The road has now been reopened.
