THE Dorset Echo has opened an online book of condolence for people to leave their tributes to the Duke of Edinburgh.

The Buckingham Palace confirmed on Friday afternoon that Prince Philip had died at the age of 99.

The Union flag flew at half-mast on the palace as hundreds of people gathered to lay flowers for Philip and read the framed plaque palace staff had placed on the gates announcing his death.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson was one of the first national figures to pay tribute to the duke – the longest-serving consort in British history.
