BUSINESSES, community groups and public-funded organisations across Dorset are being offered free technical help and financial support to encourage them to become more energy efficient.

Low Carbon Dorset has been working with Dorset Council to create an interest in helping small to medium (SME) companies move towards renewable energy.

The body is offering a grant which will pay 40 per cent of the cost to install a renewable energy system.

Grants are available between £5,000 and £250,000, depending on the project and organisation. Grants could be used for contractors and consultants or equipment and machinery, to help deliver renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.

The Dorset Low Carbon grant comes from a fund given by the EU and Dorset Council has a limited timescale to use the funding to get more businesses running on renewable energy sources.

Free technical advice of up to two days is also available, followed by ongoing support, to get projects off the ground, while regular workshops are being lined up across the county to provide information on the support available, insights into low carbon technologies and examples of successful projects. Each workshop is tailored to your organisation type and sector.
