A MAN was arrested for being drunk and disorderly on Weymouth harbourside.
After refusing to leave the area and becoming abusive to officers he was taken into custody on Saturday.
Officers revealed he was later arrested again on suspicion of shoplifting and assaulting a police officer.
A spokesman for Weymouth and Portland Police said: "Officers have arrested a local male on Custom House Quay for being drunk and disorderly after he refused to leave the area and became abusive towards officers. The male is currently being booked into custody and our patrols continue."
In an update issued later the spokesman added: "This male has now been further arrested on suspicion of theft (shoplifting) and assaulting police."
