It is very worrying when our MPs get their facts so badly wrong.

In my letter I did not oppose railings on the harbour side but challenged the way in which the Conservative-run county council made the decision in private.

There was no consultation with the town council or the sharing of the report from the HSE before the solution was dictated on us.

Together we might have found a more acceptable way to improve safety. Do I presume that Mr Loders is pressing for the Jurassic coast path in his constituency to be fenced off because of the risks?

Another error he made was to suggest the brand new Weymouth Town council was responsible for things which happened before we existed.

I await his apology and hope that he is a bit more careful with his facts in future.
