Weymouth manager Brian Stock heaped praise on Aston Villa loanee Dom Revan and revealed: “No one goes past him” in training.

Revan, 20, was the landmark signing in Stock’s January business as the former Wales international brought in six players.

One week prior to joining the Terras, Revan had skippered Villa in their 4-1 FA Cup loss to Liverpool, coming up against the likes of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane.

After Revan’s arrival Weymouth’s fortunes have dramatically improved, the Terras hauling themselves out of the Vanarama National League bottom three.

“Dom’s been absolutely brilliant,” Stock told Echosport. “Not just on but off the pitch.

“His attitude, the way he looks after himself. Simple things – the way he eats, drinks.

“Little detail never goes unmissed by myself and I’ve relayed every single bit of that information back to Aston Villa – we have a good relationship with the club.

“For me, he never has a bad day. His work rate and desire to defend is second to none.

“When we put on one v one sessions no one goes past him. He defends very, very well.

“He’s built up a very strong relationship with not just Jacob Mensah but Ethan Ross, Brennan Camp and Ollie Harfield.

“What he brings to the team has been excellent.”

Stock feels signing Revan has been a "milestone" in his tenure.

“When I got the call that he was going to come and join us, for me that was a real milestone in terms of my management,” he said.

“We’ve tried to sell how we do things as a club.

“From the outside looking in, for a player like Dom to join us from Aston Villa when we’ve only got nine points, we’ve got players joining, that sometimes takes a leap of faith.

“From Dom’s point of view, he’s not turned down that opportunity to fight, which speaks volumes for character.

“It speaks volumes for his development and the fact that he’s come here away from home, a different environment, probably has to cook for himself for the first time in a while, if not ever!

“These things all build up character for the players. When I look at my journey and how he’s started his journey, it’s pivotal.

“Hopefully he’ll draw on this as a really positive experience for the rest of his career.”

The only blip on Revan's copybook has been the concession of a penalty at Halifax. Revan is currently nursing a head injury but is expected to return to training with the Terras in late April.
