A special innovative event enabling the public to purchase a choice of stunning independent-living apartments and houses off-plan takes place in Sherborne next week.

The public can view a range of shared-ownership homes for over 55s in the Sherborne independent-living village open week from Monday 3 May to Sunday 9 May. During the event, viewers can take a virtual tour of the apartments which can be reserved off-plan on a first-come, first-served basis. Places must be booked in advance as part of enhanced Covid-safe measures for visitors and the Platinum Skies team.

It is the first opportunity that home buyers have to purchase an apartment at the site at the top of Horsecastles Road and the A30. The apartment complex, which is set for completion in October, will feature one, two, and three-bedroom apartments with a balcony or terrace and undercroft parking, as well as communal facilities including a residents’ lounge, bistro and bar area, treatment room, and activity room.

The village also offers a choice of townhouses, semi-detached and detached two-bedroom and three-bedroom houses, which have larger-than-average rooms, fully-fitted kitchens and individual gardens with a patio area. Pets are welcome at all Platinum Skies properties.

All of the homes are designed with accessibility in mind, including underfloor heating, easy-to-use kitchens with energy-saving appliances, and bathrooms with step-free showers and automatic lighting. The Sherborne community will also feature a dedicated onsite Community Manager who supports the homeowners to lead an independent lifestyle through practical and emotional support, while boosting their wellbeing through a host of activities.

Prices at Sherborne start from £230,000 for a house and £117,500 for an apartment, based on the buyer paying 50% of the property’s full market value. The homes are made affordable as part of a government-backed shared ownership scheme delivered in partnership with Homes England.

Mike Lyons, Operations Director of Platinum Skies, said: “As the government lockdown restrictions ease, we have a long list of people looking to move into a home in Sherborne. They have told us that they have been stuck in their family home which is now more than they need, and they are looking to take the next step towards a more independent, financially-secure future.”
