LARGE groups of youths are reportedly underage drinking, littering and causing a nuisance at an ancient Dorchester beauty spot.
Officers from Dorchester Neighbourhood Policing Team have increased patrols in the location of The Maumbury Rings.
"This is due to increased reports of anti social behaviour including large groups of underage youths drinking alcohol and littering," a police spokesman said.
"This area falls under the West Dorset District Council Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) -Controlled Alcohol Zone."
It is understood that the PSPO was transferred from the former West Dorset District Council to Dorset Council following the local government reorganisation in Dorset.
Organised events in the are will apply for temporary alcohol licenses, the force has said.
Current Government coronavirus guidance states that meeting outdoors is allowed in groups of up to six from any number of households, or in a group of any size for up to two households.
