A LONG stretch of the A31 in Dorset will be closed overnight for multiple weeks.
The A-Road between Wimborne and Sturminster Marshall will be shut in both directions for a series of road works throughout May.
Starting from Tuesday, May 4, Highways England say the road closure will be between Wimborne, the Merley roundabout, and Sturminster Marshall, the Roundhouse roundabout.
The roadworks will take place on weekdays throughout May from 9pm and 6am until Tuesday June 1.
A diversion will be in place via the A349 and A350.
A spokesman for Highways England said: “We will be combining various activities under several overnight closures. By combining work, we aim to keep disruption to both road users and local communities to a minimum.
“Work will include resurfacing, safety barrier replacement, road marking renewals, and replacement of street lighting and road signs.
“All work will take place overnight, between 9pm and 6am, Monday to Friday nights only.”
