AN ICONIC Weymouth seafront hotel will reopen as part of a newly formed hotel collective this month.
The Royal Hotel will reopen on May 17 as part of the 'Coast and Country Hotel Collection' which has been launched by its managers, independent hotel group Bespoke Hotels.
Bespoke Hotels took over the Weymouth venue in September 2020, after its previous owners, Shearings Hotel, collapsed into administration, leaving the site at risk of permanent closure.

As well as taking over The Royal Hotel, Bespoke Hotels took on 38 others and has now formed the Coast and Country Hotel Collection in a bid to give the hospitality industry a boost as it reopens after the third national lockdown.
Paul Fitzgerald, Regional Director of Bespoke Hotels, said: "Given the enormous challenges of the last few months, we’re delighted to bring The Royal Hotel back to market. It’s a lovely, elegant property that’s an integral part of the town’s esplanade, and we know the initial closure was felt keenly amongst the local community."
Traditionally, The Royal Hotel has mainly been popular with tourism groups, however, bosses are hoping that the 71-bedroom venue will attract a wider audience as it reopens.
Paul said: "Our renewed focus with reopening is on reaching wider audiences. In particular we are looking to attract those seeking leisure breaks and welcoming local residents to sample the restaurants, bars, and wedding and event venues on offer as we look to restore the hotel to local hero status and develop a close bond with communities."
Bosses are also keen to retain the integrity of the building and plan to keep any branding 'subtle'.
Paul said: "There will be some subtle branding on the inside - as they enter the hotel, guests will see some of our marketing materials and our logo - however, the Royal Hotel is such an iconic site, we feel it not right to brand the hotel overtly.
"The bookings for Weymouth have been exceptional and The Royal Hotel compares very strongly to our other hotels. Everyone who knows Weymouth knows The Royal Hotel and we cannot wait to get our doors open and welcome guests back to this sensational destination.
