A NEW wine bar is coming to Lyme Regis.

Wine bar and tap room, Lilac, is set to open up on Broad Street in July.

The venue is a creation of TV chef Harriet Mansell - it is her second venture in the town, having opened Robin Wylde on Silver Street in October 2020.

The 40-cover bar will specialise in 'low-intervention' (natural) wines and small plates. Lilac will continue with the ethos behind Robin Wylde to 'shine a light on the quality and abundance of West Country produce, wild and foraged ingredients'.

A selection of international wines will also be available, alongside beers, ciders, meads, soft drinks and coffee. Natural canned wines will also be available to takeaway.

A changing menu of seasonal small plates will accompany the drinks, with a focus on vegetables, zero waste and sustainability.

Ms Mansell said: "Lilac has been a long time in the planning. Now - with the lifting of lockdown restrictions and a general sense of optimism in the air - it feels like the perfect time to bring something completely new to Lyme."

She added: "We are so looking forward to growing the Robin Wylde family and to continue sharing in the incredible produce our local winemakers, growers, fishermen and farmers work tirelessly to produce all year round."

Ms Mansell has made a reputation in the culinary world for creating dishes with foraged food and local ingredients. She competed alongside the country's finest chefs on BBC’s Great British Menu and has worked around the world in renowned restaurants and Michelin star kitchens, including cooking for the Qatari Royal Family in the Seychelles and the Murdoch family in the Caribbean.

Robin Wylde, a two-minute walk from Lilac on Silver Street, will reopen on May 19.
