TWO people on a yacht were rescued and brought to safety late last night.
Weymouth Lifeboat towed the broken yacht and called Wyke Coastguard to assist them at 10.30pm amid high winds and dangerous weather conditions.
The two people and their yacht were brought back to the safety of Weymouth Harbour.
A spokesman for Wyke Coastguard Rescue Team said: "We were tasked at 10.30pm to meet Weymouth Lifeboat at the waiting pontoon. They were towing a yacht which had broken its mooring with two persons on board. The wind was blowing 50 knts with gusts of 65mph.
"They luckily negotiated the northern entrance of Portland harbour into Weymouth Bay. The lifeboat retrieved the yacht half a mile off Redcliff Point and brought them to the safety of Weymouth Harbour."
