A boat washed up on the coast sparked a coastguard alert.

Rescuers raced to the scene - beneath the cliffs west of Seatown - and discovered the vessel was the same one seen earlier in the week by a patrol, and there was no cause for concern.

A spokesman for West Bay Coastguard Rescue Team said: "Once on scene and despite the fading light, officers confirmed that this was the same vessel that had been previously visited earlier in the week by officers on patrol.

"Solent Coastguard have been passed details and photographs of the vessel, and the Receiver of Wreck is aware.

"With no persons thought to be at risk and with no new updates from the police regarding missing persons or indeed a missing vessel, the officers stood down to return to station pending further enquiries."
