A GIRL has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer while they were trying to help get her home.
This morning, officers from Weymouth Neighbourhood Policing and Response Team went to Weymouth train station and found two girls who had been reported as missing.
While officers were attempting to help the girls, both from Poole, return to their home addresses, one of the girls allegedly assaulted a police officer and caused damage to property. She was arrested.
A spokesman for Weymouth and Portland Police said: "This morning officers from Weymouth Neighbourhood Policing and Response teams attending the train station and located two young persons who had been reported to Police Missing from the Poole area.
"Officers assisted with returning the girls to their home addresses and in doing so one assaulted a police officer and caused damage to property.
"The girl has been arrested and is currently assisting police with enquires. Violence towards emergency workers will not be tolerated and robust action will be taken."
