WEYMOUTH Lifeboat station is on the lookout for a volunteer to lead the existing team in the role of Lifeboat Operations Manager.

The current LOM will be stepping down from the role at RNLI's Lifeboat Station in September.

Weymouth is one of the RNLI’s busiest lifeboat stations on England’s south coast. It operates two lifeboats – 'Ernest and Mabel', an all-weather lifeboat, plus a B class Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat - 'Jack and Phyl Cleare'.

The Lifeboat Operations Manager helps to save lives at sea by carrying out the day-to-day management of station to ensure a permanent state of readiness for service.

The role includes authorising the launch of lifeboats, providing leadership of the operations team and ensuring all operational activities are carried out to maintain the lifeboats and all associated equipment.

The charity says it is looking for someone who is a team player, good communicator, with local maritime knowledge and preferably knowledge of the RNLI.

The successful applicant will be given training in the role and have out of pocket expenses reimbursed.
