A POPULAR conservation scheme is now open for new applications.
The Wild Paths 10-month training programme is back to train Dorset’s next conservationists in protecting the county’s wildlife and wild places.
The scheme, which will appoint 10 trainees, is run in collaboration with the South West Wildlife Trusts and will begin in September following a year’s break due to Covid-19.
Traineeships will be based at wildlife trusts in Dorset, Avon, Devon, Somerset and Wiltshire.
Each will focus on practical conservation, working with volunteers, and engaging people and communities with their natural heritage.
A spokeswoman for Dorset's Wildlife Trust, said: "This scheme will give those interested in wildlife a real insight into working in conservation, from wildlife survey skills, to gaining their qualifications and leading engagement activities."
The programme is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
