A driver was taken to hospital after their car hit a swan in Weymouth.
The collision resulted in 'extensive' front end damage to the vehicle, police said.
The swan was found by police officers nearby and appeared to be not seriously hurt.
It happened on Preston Beach Road yesterday afternoon.
The swan was reportedly taking off and in flight at the time.
A spokesman for Weymouth & Portland Police said: "The vehicle involved sustained extensive front end damage and the driver was subsequently taken to hospital as a precaution.
"The swan was located by officers nearby and looked after until a local swan herder could attend to assist.
"We are pleased to report that the swan is likely to make a full recovery and will be spending a short time at a local sanctuary before its release."
