The A35 is back open between Dorchester and Bridport after an earlier crash.
The main route between Monkeys Jump roundabout, Dorchester and Sea Road South (Mitsubishi) roundabout, Bridport was closed after a lorry overturned near Winterbourne Abbas this morning.
It happened about 6am on a bend just west of the village. The lorry is understood to have gone into a ditch.
Due to the complexity of the recovery operation it was thought the road would be closed for some time.
Highways England said diversions were in place while the road was closed.
The road reopened around 9.15am after the lorry was removed from the road and recovery work was completed.
It is not known if anyone was injured in the crash or if any other vehicles were involved.
A spokeswoman for Dorset Police said: "Dorset Police received a report at 4.46am on Sunday, May 16 2021 of a single-vehicle collision involving a lorry that had overturned on the A35 near to Winterbourne Abbas.
"There were no reports of any serious injuries. Road closures were put in place between Bridport and Dorchester as officers dealt with the incident and the lorry was recovered.
