WEYMOUTH’S main post office in the town centre is to close for a fortnight for a major refurbishment.

The branch, in St Thomas Street, will shut after trading (5.30pm) on Wednesday, May 26, and it is due to reopen at 1pm on Thursday, June 10.

During the refit alternative branches include Trinity Street Post Office, (near the harbourside) and Abbotsbury Road Post Office.

Weymouth Post Office has been operated by a temporary postmaster since May 2019 and following the refit a permanent postmaster will take over the branch.

He is Liam Searle, who will take on the role as well as being the postmaster for Swanage.

The branch is being fully refurbished and there will be new signage. The location of the counters will also change.

A spokesman said: “Please accept our apologies whilst we are closed.”
