A GROUP of travellers has been evicted from a car park.
Officers from Weymouth Neighbourhood Policing Team evicted an 'unauthorised traveller encampment' yesterday afternoon from Lodmoor car park, Weymouth.
The police have thanked members of the community for their patience while they worked with the council to evict the travellers.
A spokesman for Weymouth and Portland Police said: "Officers from Weymouth Neighbourhood Policing Team this afternoon have successfully evicted an unauthorised traveller encampment from the Lodmoor car park.
"This was conducted using section 62A of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act, which stipulates that the group have to either move to an approved site or leave Dorset for a period of time.
"We would like to thank the community for their patience whilst police worked closely with the council to achieve this."
