A TOTAL of five new coronavirus cases have been recorded across Dorset in the latest 24-hour period, figures show.

The latest Government figures show five people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the county in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Friday May 28.

Four new cases recorded across the BCP Council, taking the total number of coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic to 25,472.

The rolling seven-day period for the BCP is 27 cases, with a case rate of 6.8 per 100,000 people.

In the Dorset Council area, one new case was recorded, mean that, since March 2020, there has been 11,945 Covid-19 cases confirmed across the local authority area.

The number of coronavirus cases over the latest rolling seven-day period for the Dorset Council area is 19 cases, and the case rate is five per 100,000 people.

Elsewhere, the New Forest area recorded no new coronavirus cases recorded within the last 24-hour period.

The total number of coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic stands at 6,230.

The seven-day total for New Forest is 11, with a case rate of 6.1 per 100,000 people.

Across the UK, 4,182 new cases of the Covid-19 virus were recorded, taking the total number of corornavirus cases since the start of the pandemic to 4,477,705.
