Officers searching for a missing woman from Wareham are appealing for the public’s help in trying to find her.

Elke Jaeger, who is 61 years old, was last seen at 12.30pm on Saturday, May 29, at her home in Nundico and at 3pm she was in phone contact saying that she would be going for a walk.

She was reported missing at 1.36am on Sunday when she was not found to be back at home as expected.

Elke is described as white, five feet six inches tall and of slim build. She has short blond hair and blue eyes and wears glasses. She is possibly wearing leggings and a turquoise fleece gilet.

Chief Inspector Matt Baxter, of Dorset Police, said: “Elke likes to walk from Wareham over the bridge toward Stoborough along the causeway, then up Nutcrack Lane to Ridge, down to Redcliffe and back to Wareham along the river. However, we don’t know whether that is the route she took yesterday.

“Officers have been searching the area, but so far we have not found any signs of Elke and we are very concerned for her welfare as this is completely out of character.

“There would have been many people out and about in Wareham yesterday afternoon and I am hoping somebody remembers seeing her and can help us find out where she may have gone.”

Anyone with information or knowledge as to Elke’s whereabouts is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk, via email 101@dorset.pnn.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting incident number 30:68.
