A POLICE incident has lead to the closure of a main route in Weymouth for the second time in less that 24 hours.

Part of the relief road and other routes in Weymouth have been closed while police deal with the 'incident'.

It comes after police closed the stretch of the Weymouth Way between Chafeys Roundabout and Manor Roundabout around 5pm yesterday.

A section of the main route is closed between the Jurassic Roundabout and Veasta Roundabout.

Other roads currently shut include Littlemoor Road between Bincombe Bumps and Dorchester Road.

A Dorset Police spokesman said: "Weymouth Way is currently shut between The Jurassic and Veasta Roundabouts whilst we deal with an incident.

"The section of Littlemoor Road between Bincombe Bumps and Dorchester Road is also currently closed.

"Please find an alternative route for the time being.

"Traffic is heavy in the Weymouth area.

"Thanks for your patience."
