ARCHBISHOP Wake CE Primary School in Blandford Forum has been given the go-ahead for the installation of a Multi-Use-Games-Area (MUGA) - but it needs your help to fundraise.

The brand new MUGA, which will be installed over the summer holiday, will provide an alternative, all-year-round space for pupils to use for sport, as well as play throughout the year.

The artificial surface will be an all-year-round playing surface and will be located up on the main playing field.

Since the school was built almost 13 years ago, the number of pupils has increased as the school has grown.

This led to a shrinking play area and growing pupil numbers, leaving limited space to play in the autumn and winter months.

In order for this project to go ahead, the primary school needs to fundraise £10,000.

One pupil, Patrick in Year Three, spent his Easter break completing a challenging sponsored walk to raise money for this project and raised £345.

A spokesperson for the school said: "We are all so very proud of Patrick for his efforts and raising a whopping £345 to go towards the project. This is an amazing effort and Patrick should feel so proud that he has contributed to the project in this way.

"What an inspiration, he’s a star."

A JustGiving page has been set up to help cover the cost of the MUGA, and you can donate here: www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/money-for-the-muga

The spokesperson added: "The school will also welcome any support from local Blandford businesses. There is something special about supporting local children and schools. Please contact the school directly if this is possible.

"The addition of this MUGA will benefit hundreds of pupils for years to come. I hope that you will join the school in supporting the fundraising to provide this amazing space to benefit sport and play all year round."
