A 20-metre 5G telecoms mast will be allowed on the verge off Hampshire Road and the B3157– together with three equipment cabinets.

The mast site, for Hutchinson Telecoms, comes within Chickerell ward and is on the south eastern side of the B-road, close to the junction with Hampshire Road and the Dorset Echo building.

Dorset Council has said that the mast can go ahead under permitted development rules.

A report says that the application attracted no comments for or against, apart from Natural England which said it would not object.

Said a council summary of the application: “The local plan and national planning policy framework are supportive of works, such as this, to enhance communications infrastructure.

"In view of the lack of consultation responses received and the location of the site outside of any conservation area or other sensitive area it is considered that the prior approval of the council in respect of the siting and appearance of the apparatus is not required in this instance.”
