TWO PEOPLE have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a suspected stabbing at a property in Bournemouth.

Police and ambulance crews were called to a property on Holdenhurst Road this morning before 6am on Thursday, June 3.

A man in his 40s was taken to hospital after sustaining a suspected chest wound which is considered to be “serious but not life threatening”.

A 51-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman, both from Bournemouth, have been detained and are assisting officers with their enquiries.

Holdenhurst Road was temporarily closed for almost three hours between Springbourne roundabout and Bournemouth Railway Station as emergency service personnel arrived at and examined the scene.

Forensics were called to the property this afternoon and remain at the scene.

A spokesman from Dorset Police said: “Dorset Police received a report at 5.52am on Thursday June 3 that a man had sustained a suspected stab wound in Holdenhurst Road in Bournemouth.

“Officers attended, along with the ambulance service, and a man aged in his 40s was taken to hospital with an injury, which is believed to be serious but not life threatening.

“A cordon, including a road closure, was put in place to allow the emergency services to respond and for an examination of the scene to be carried out. A smaller cordon remains in place as enquiries continue but Holdenhurst Road was fully reopened shortly before 9am.

“A 51-year-old Bournemouth man and a 34-year-old woman from Bournemouth were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and are assisting officers with their enquiries.”
