A SPATE of van thefts took place over the weekend in north Dorset - and police are warning van owners in the area to be careful.

Tools and a wallet and cards were reported stolen during three van thefts in the Peacemarsh are of Gillingham which took place sometime between 10pm Friday and 9.45am Saturday. Vehicles were targeted in Knoll Place, off the B3092 and on Weatherbury Road.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "It was reported that between 10.30pm on Friday 4 June and 6am on Saturday 5 June 2021 a van was broken into in Knoll Place and a wallet and cards were stolen.

"It was further reported that between 10pm on Friday 4 June and 9.45am on Saturday 5 June 2021 a van at an address off the B3092 was broken into and tools were stolen.

"And finally between 2.30am and 3.30am on Saturday 5 June 2021 a van was broken into on Weatherbury Road and tools were stolen.

"Please, if possible empty your works van of tools overnight or apply extra security to your vehicle."
