AN historic castle dating back to the 14th century will be throwing open its doors to allow people to look around for free during open days later this year.
Woodsford Castle near Dorchester will be opening its doors to the public as part of Heritage Open Days on Saturday, September 11 and Sunday, September 12.
The building, which has one of the largest thatched roofs in Dorset, is the surviving part of a 14th century castle.
The Woodsford Castle there today dates from between 1370-90 and is now owned by the Landmark Trust. It is available to be rented out.
A spokeswoman from the Landmark Trust said: "The castle will be open on September 11 and 12 from 10am to 4pm. Entry is free, but you must pre-book a slot.
"The building reopened for private bookings on April 12.
"The building sleeps up to eight people."
