AN EVENT raising 'much needed funds' for a twinning society will be held this week.
The Weymouth Louviers Twinning Society, formerly the Weymouth and Portland Louviers Twinning Society, will hold a fundraising stall on the charity pitch on The Esplanade on Friday, June 11 from 10am to 4pm to raise some money.
Kevin Brookes, chairman of the society, a retired prison officer and former Mayor of Weymouth & Portland, said: "We will be holding a tombola and will be selling plants, books, jewellery, music CDs, DVDs and small bric-a-brac items."
Twinning began with the signing of the charter – which promised “friendship in perpetuity” – in Louviers in 1958 and in Weymouth in 1959.
If anyone would like to donate any items for the stall, contact Kevin on 01305 774648 or 07834 476006. Items can be collected.
