A VULNERABLE elderly man gave his bank details and card PIN to a woman who falsely claimed to be from Barclays bank.

On Wednesday June 2, the victim was visited at his home in Sturminster Newton by a woman who said she claimed worked for the bank.

She was able to get his bank card details and PIN from the man, leading to a warning from North Dorset Police about the banking scam.

A spokesman for North Dorset Police said: "On Wednesday, June 2, an elderly vulnerable male was visited by a female purporting to be from Barclays bank she gained bank card details and PIN.

"Please be reminded that your bank would NEVER attend your home address to ask for your bank card and PIN.

"Please report suspicious activity to 101 or online www.dorset.police.uk/Do-It-Online

"Only call 999 if it is happening now or a life is in danger."
