COUNCILLORS are seeking homes for young people leaving care.
Dorset Council is looking for people to become supported lodgings providers and share their homes with young people who need a place to stay.
Carers do not need to own their own house and they can be in full-time employment while providing support lodgings to a young person aged 16 or over who has left care.
Carers will receive a fixed rent, a contribution to the household costs and a fee from the support lodgings service, as well as support from a dedicated team and invites to training events.
Councillor Andrew Parry, Dorset Council portfolio holder for children, education and early help, said: "Could you offer support for a young person in need of a home with no family to guide them?
"Becoming a supported lodgings provider is an opportunity to transform a young person’s life. Some of them will need help with practical tasks such as cooking, budgeting or shopping economically. Others will need emotional support."
If you can provide a young person leaving care with a home, call the supported lodgings team on 01305 225 815 or 07881 860 791.
